- Perl is more than alive, it's still awesome!
My previous job was with a company that was wedded to UNIX and Perl. This was where I was introduced to it and taught how to develop with it.
After some time out I got involved in .NET and their framework, and all it's related inflexibility - having to use CSS controllers to get it to render acceptable HTML that was not table based.
When starting an outside of work project I decided to get back into a language that I enjoyed the most, Perl.

After 6 months of development work, following 2 years worth of design and preparation, CPAN Testers 2.0 is finally live.
- Duck Duck Go Architecture
From Gabriel Weinberg's blog: www.gabrielweinberg.com. I often get asked what Duck Duck Go "runs on." This post basically answers that question by outlining the major moving parts that serve queries, i.e. its architecture. I'll detail in another post what, in particular, makes it fast, i.e. tunables and other specifics.
- Perl 5.13.3 Released
This is the fourth DEVELOPMENT release in the 5.13.x series leading to a stable release of Perl 5.14.0. You can find a list of high-profile changes in this release in the file "perl5133delta.pod" inside the distribution.
- Kephra 0.4.3 released
Kephra, the editor written in Perl, has reached its first version that is UTF-safe and installable via CPAN. The all in one package for Windows users is still available under http://kephra.sf.net/
